Based on a client’s present financial situation, future projections and financial desires for the future, our firm completes a realistic, flexible plan, which can be used as a guide for all investment decisions. A written investment plan is a critical first step in achieving long-term financial goals. Investment policy statements should be reviewed annually to insure they continue to reflect current needs and sentiments.
Preservation of principal, a foremost concern in most clients’ minds, necessitates a strategy of portfolio diversification. Assets should, we believe, be distributed among a number of asset classes with varying levels of risk in an effort to optimize each client’s financial potential. A Department of Labor study of performance results by Retirement Plans over a sixteen-year period has shown that asset allocation decisions have the greatest impact on overall long-term portfolio performance. The study revealed that 93% of portfolio performance was attributed to asset allocation, 5% to the individual selection of stocks, bonds, etc., and 2% to luck.
Managers are chosen on an individualized basis to implement policies, which are designed to meet client asset allocation objectives while operating within desired risk parameters. A search is done within each asset class universe of managers with emphasis on diversification of style (i.e., value oriented managers -versus- growth managers -versus- large capitalization managers, etc.). Scatter gram charts are used to determine which managers have performed best with least risk over five and ten year periods.
Continual monitoring of specific investment performance, asset allocation mix, and investment style is essential to ensure the client’s portfolio is performing as expected given the guidelines of his investment policy statement.
- Daily net worth statements are available on your WealthPlan.

* Diversification does not assure a profit nor protect against loss. No investment strategy, such as asset allocation, can guarantee a profit or protect against a loss in periods of declining values.
